Roca Sunzal is a brand new hotel
which offers an excellent beachfront location just south
of the point at El Sunzal. This area offers a beautiful
beach and serene environment in contrast to the town
of La Libertad which is by contrast dirty and congested.
The Roca Sunzal offers new, clean rooms which have either
1 or 2 beds, private bathroom w/ hot and cold water,
and cater to a maximum of 2 persons per room. The hotel
offers 2 types of rooms, a/c and nona/c. The a/c rooms
all have Direct TV. The non a/c rooms have fans. All
rooms have an ocean or partial ocean view and a terrace
w/ hammock.
The
hotel has a large swimming pool with slide, as well
as an excellent seafood restaurant and fully stocked
bar with outdoor verandah and seating area overlooking
the ocean. Roca Sunzal is very safe, fully gated and
has 24/7 armed security. Overall this is an excellent
accommodation option with Playa Sunzal and La Bocana
in walking distance and central to other breaks: Punta
Roca and La Paz (20 min. south), El Zonte (15min. north),
and K59 (35 min. north). (Note: this hotel probably
deserves a 4-star rating since it is the nicest hotel
along this coast, however the only true 4-star and 5-star
full service hotels are in San Salvador.
