At 8am this morning at La Paz, La Libertad, the waves were about knee high, with some
waist high sets. The tide was low, coming in. There were a few clouds out, no
wind, and three surfers. At Punta Roca there were also about two or three surfers
riding the waist to chest high waves.

Thursday, 7 August 2003
This morning at La Paz there was plenty of sun, no wind, small waves, and no surfers.
The sets rolled in slowly, delivering knee to waist high waves. It was not
quite high tide around 8am. A nice morning for a mellow longboarder perhaps, but up
the coast were a handful of surfers at Punta Roca riding the chest high rights. -[Jon]

Obviously, and tragically, the swell has dropped. This morning, at 8am, the sets
came through with about knee to maybe waist high waves. The sun was out, there was
no wind, and the tide was close to high. One surfer ventured out at La Paz, where
the photos are from, and it seems it was worth his while. There were about 6-8
surfers at Punta Roca. - [Jon]

A wonderful swell has hit us and brought some nice waves. Arriving Thursday evening,
amidst high winds, the sets picked up from 3 footers to 6 and 7 footers rather quickly.
The swell stayed for the holiday weekend, and began to ebb on Tuesday. Here are a couple
of pictures of La Paz of the swell. - [Jon]

A couple of surfers wanted to get wet and ended up catching some nice waves this morning
[see below]. These pictures show the best of the 3-5 foot sets which came in a 6am
at La Paz. No wind, clear skies, and a low tide treated these guys to some fun
waves. By 8am., though, the sets were down to 2-3 feet. -[Jon]

Tuesday, 29 July 2003
The swell has not quite picked up today, at least not between 6 and 9am. The clouds
cleared out, leaving us with a warm day in La Libertad. Sorry there are no pictures
for today, but if there were, they would look like those from Monday, the 28th, only
sunnier. At La Paz, sets were about 3-4 feet tall, no wind, and it was mid-tide,
going out. All surfers said "No thanks" this morning as well, but at Punta
Roca there were about 3 or 4 surfers catching head-high waves. -[Jon]

What swell there was last week, and this weekend, has left us. Early this
morning(6am) a few chest high sets came in, but then it started getting a little messy
around 7am, and by 8am. it looked like this. Surfable perhaps, but nobody had the
surf itch THAT bad this morning..

The waves today are still on the small side, between knee and waist high mostly.
Itīs still low tide in the morning, with a light cloud cover. A few sets came
through that were more than head high, about every 20-30 minutes.

More of the same type of waves today, small and smooth. Low tide this morning, near 6am.,
with a little breeze that quickly died down. A set or two came through with overhead
waves, but mostly the waves were knee and waist high.

This morning started nice at La Paz, quite similar to yesterday... again the 7:15 chop
came in, but only for an hour. The odd wave was head high and peeling, but didnīt
come through as often as weīd like. Clouds were there to break up the glare of the sun on
the water. Again, not a bad morning to be in the water. - [.Juan]

Early this morning was good at La Paz, with clean waves between knee and shoulder high
(6am, low tide). A little chop came in between 7-8am., but then left, as did the
consistency of the sets. A few waves were head-high and breaking down the line.
Overall, a fine morning for surf. - [Juan]

Perfect morning (6.30am) at La Paz beach (at high tide) with lots knee to sometimes chest
high waves. Sea surface was almost clean (however, it was perfect), no winds and around
7.00am there were about 6 surfers out. It was hard to leave the water... - [Thomas]

Sunday, 20 July 2003
Sunday morning was quite smooth at high tide (La Paz) but got better around noon where
bigger sets came in (knee to head high). Surf was quite good during the afternoon, but sea
surface was really choppy which made the take-off to a bumpy matter. Weather conditions
were friendly; sunny day, few clouds and hardly any winds. Unfortunately I didn't take any
photos for Sunday... - [Thomas]
Friday, 18 July 2003
La Paz beach was smooth this morning at high tide - but, of course, la Punta was a lot
better. Conditions were favorable this morning: despite the rainfalls last night, water
quality was visibly better (best) than the days before, sea surface was little choppy and
partly weak and inconsistent side - off shore winds and there were only a handful of
surfers out. - [Thomas]

Thursday, 17 July 2003
Sunny morning, blue sky, no winds and lots of proper knee to waist high waves at high tide
at La Paz. Water quality was still reduced from all the rainfalls, but now it's on a
suitable level. Sea surface was choppy and at La Paz were about 4 body-boarders out. - [Thomas]

Wednesday, 16 July 2003
After a rainy night with heavy thunderstorms, ocean's water was still coffee-brown and
choppy this morning. But swell was better this morning at La Paz beach, as swells came
consistently with waves ranging between knee and chest high - fun waves. At La Paz were
about 4 surfers out. - [Thomas]
